Manga Book Club meeting

The Manga Book Club will have its next meeting on Saturday, August 16, from 4:00 to 6:00 at the Mesquite North Branch Library, 2600 Oates Dr.

Last time we started working on our Fahrenheit 451 artwork, making sketches and reading some selections from the book. We looked at the chief's explanation of how the society evolved, Bradbury's afterword that gave some of his reasons for writing the books, and the scene with Mildred's friends and their callous attitudes towards their husbands and children. We found out that it worked best to do this for about an hour, and then move on to more general discussion about mangas, anime, YA books, and movies. If you've missed the last few meetings, don't worry--we've got two months to work on this so we'll cover some things more than once.

What: Manga Book Club
When: Saturday, August 16, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Where: Mesquite North Branch Library, 2600 Oates Dr.

For more information, call Susan Harding at the North Branch Library at 972-681-0465.

excellent discussion - we are looking forward to the Manga exhibit at the Mesquite Arts Center and seeing your 21st century interpretations.

I'm certain the creativity will be exceptional. It is very intersting that the book was first published in 1953 and so many of the themes are still relevant today.

Good luck
